The ReAction Group came about in the late 80s, in the aftermath of the banning of our play Famous Dead Man, and after I was taken in to police custody while performing for the End Conscription Campaign. It was inspired by Eastern bloc propaganda performances, trade union performance and poetry, Brecht, the legendary Augusto Boal, as well as what I thought Yiddish agit-prop performance would have been like in the Jewish working class Bundt. We performed at Congress of South African Trade Union rallies, at End Conscription Campaign events and at grassroots cultural gatherings.
